Orangutan Adoptions and Conservation

Adopt a orangutan Care for the Wild International’s work to help orangutans is wide ranging and is funded by our orangutan adoption scheme and donations from supporters. As with all of our work we aim to make a difference by providing practical help to aid animals in most need.

Care for the Wild International works with the Orangutan Foundation to stop the suffering of orangutans caused by poaching and the devastation of their natural habitat in Borneo and Indonesia.

Since 1997 we have helped the Orangutan Foundation pay for medical care, treatment and food for orangutan orphans at the Orangutan Care Centre near Tanjung Puting National Park.
One of the rescued orphans, Violet, is part of our orangutan adoption scheme. She was rescued from a squalid chicken cage in Borneo where she was kept chained around the neck as a family ‘pet’. She will continue to be cared for until she can be safely returned to the wild.

Care for the Wild also campaigns and fundraises to protect the orangutans’ natural habitat. Working with the Orangutan Foundation we have managed to increase the size of the Tanjung Puting National Park’s area in Borneo by one third.

Much of the work we do is funded by our orangutan adoption scheme which allows people to support these helpless animals. The rest of our work is funded by donations from our supporters.
Adopt a orangutan Our aim is to make a difference and help orangutans wherever they are in need which is why we are fighting to stop poaching in Borneo and Indonesia.

Our work with orangutans is just part of Care for the Wild’s practical work to fight animal cruelty, promote animal welfare, rescue and help animals in need and make a difference!
