Our work with
bears is just part of Care for the Wild’s practical work to fight animal cruelty, promote animal welfare, rescue and help animals in need and make a difference!
Care for the Wild International’s work to help bears is wide ranging and is funded by our
bear adoption scheme and donations from supporters. As with all of our work we aim to make a difference by providing practical help to aid animals in most need. Projects we are involved in include saving the lives of black and brown bears in the Russian Far East and providing a safe haven from a life of misery for former
dancing bears in Greece.

Care for the Wild International works with the ARCTUROS Environmental Centre and
Bear Sanctuary in Greece to provide to care for rescued dancing bears. Before joining the sanctuary, all the bears had endured great suffering and ill treatment. Because of this ill treatment and related health problems, the bears at ARCTUROS can never be returned to the wild. Because of our work they now spend their days being cared for by dedicated sanctuary staff.
To help fund this project we started a
bear adoption scheme which allows people to support these vulnerable animals. By adopting a bear our supporters are making a very personal connection with these magnificent animals. The rest of our work is funded by donations from our supporters.

Care for the Wild International also saves the lives of
orphaned black and brown bears in the Russian Far East whose mothers were killed by poachers and wildlife traffickers. Many of these cubs were rescued just in time before being condemned to life in a Chinese bear bile farm. We are committed to providing the bears with naturally forested enclosures to grow up and recover before being released.
All of our work with bears is funded by our
bear adoption scheme and donations from our supporters. Our aim is to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable animals which is why we are helping bears wherever they are in need!
