Established in 1984, CWI has over a quarter of a century been working for the benefit of wild animals and habitats around the world. Our activities can be divided into three main areas:

Protect: Safeguarding wild areas against poachers, hunters and other lethal threats.
CWI believes that the best place for wildlife is in the wild, that’s why protecting animals in their own habitats is one of our main priorities.
We provide practical help where it is most needed, to help reduce the conflict between wildlife and people and provide aid during times of disaster.
Defend: We speak up against animal cruelty and exploitation.
We passionately campaign against attitudes and policies that allow animal abuse to continue, and we work with local people to shape attitudes towards wildlife conservation.
We also advocate for better standards of wildlife protection at key forums such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, and commission important animal welfare and ecological investigations.
Rescue: We provide treatment and rehabilitation for rescued animals, and for those who are too sick or injured to return to the wild, a lifetime of compassionate care.
Sadly, some wild animals need our help when they are injured, abandoned or mistreated for whatever reason.CWI provides vital funds to pay for the rescue, sanctuary or rehabilitation of sick or orphaned animals, ranging from orphaned orang-utans and elephants to rescued bears and badgers.
